[Dissection of carious lesions: a new technique for three-dimensional histopathological study].

چکیده
Two-dimensional analyses of the histopathological aspect of carious lesions present bias that may compromise the scientific value of studies. In this paper, the authors present a new three-dimensional technique for the histopathological analysis of carious lesions. It consists in the dissection of the affected areas under the stereomicroscope, utilizing refrigerated dental burs, without any loss of carious tissue. The dissection of three occlusal lesions located on first and second permanent molars is presented. It was possible to observe the internal reactions of enamel and dentin, and correlate the results to the macroscopic features of the occlusal surface. Some comparative aspects between the dissecting and two-dimensional techniques are discussed.

متن کاملDetection and Characterization of Human Teeth Caries Using 2D Correlation Raman Spectroscopy
Background: Carious lesions are formed by a complex process of chemical interaction between dental enamel and its environment. They can cause cavities and pain, and are expensive to fix. It is hard to characterize in vivo as a result of environment factors and remineralization by ions in the oral cavity. Objectives: The development of a technique that gives early diagnosis which is non-invasi...

Carious lesions are usually found by dentists, using bitewing radiographs, and according to the depth of the lesions, the treatment plan is designed. At the present, this technique is the most accepted one and is used generally. But it is not a perfect technique and there are some errors in determining of depth of proximal carious lesions. These errors are mainly related to the use of new high-...
متن کاملStress Analysis of Occlusal Forces in Canine Teeth and Their Role in the Development of Non-Carious Cervical Lesions: Abfraction
Non-carious cervical tooth lesions for many decades were attributed to the effects of abrasion and erosion mainly through toothbrush trauma, abrasive toothpaste, and erosive acids. However, though the above may be involved, more recently a biomechanical theory for the formation of these lesions has arisen, and the term abfraction was coined. The aim of this study was to investigate the biomecha...
متن کاملمقایسه دقت فیلمهای Primax و Insight و تصاویر دیجیتالی CMOS-APS در تشخیص پوسیدگیهای جانبی دندانهای خلفی به صورت آزمایشگاهی
Introduction: Radiography is one of the most important diagnostic methods for evaluation of dental caries. On the other hand, the least amount of radiation along with high quality is a main gold standard. The purpose of this study was to compare the diagnostic accuracy of Primax, Insight Radiographic films, and direct digital images (Schick CMOS-APS), in detection of interproximal natural Carie...
